Who wouldn’t want a Transforming Ghostbuster? Who?!

WHAT IS IT?

Transformers ECTO-1

WHAT DOES IT DO?

A toy that merges two fantastic franchises into one...

WHAT'S THE DAMAGE TO MY WALLET?

$40.00

DO I REALLY NEED IT?

Well, it’s just a toy so need is a stretch, but just look at it!

ECTO-1 TransformerI grew up in the 80’s. And in particular I have a photo somewhere at home of my desk in my bedroom around 1985 littered with an array of Autobots and Decepticons. And right above it, a large poster of the Ghostbusters logo. If this had been out at that time, I certainly would have been saving my pennies or begging my parents, friends, neighbors, Santa, and anyone else to get me this. Combining two beloved franchises from the 80’s is just plain awesome!

This is not the first time HASBRO has merged the Transformers lines with a popular franchise. I believe it was around 2005 when they first introduced their Star Wars crossover line. Unfortunately, many of those were kind of clunky, and difficult to transform.

In fact, many of them looked fine as the ship they were supposed to represent, but in my opinion only the Millennium Falcon looked cool in robot form (and it turned into two robots). Though I hated the heads. They should have just stuck with a generic robot head instead of trying to turn it into a character.

Millenium Falcon Transformer

This time the head looks right. The vehicle looks dead on for Ghostbusters, and the transformed robot version looks like a Transformer should! Maybe it was easier to get right because using an actual vehicle instead of a space ship falls back into their form, but I think this is a vast improvement over the Star Wars line.

Break the Piggy.

At $40 it won’t bankrupt my wallet, and would look great in either form on my desk.
